Our security takes care of us or a little about “Avanpost”
Smart Security Group “Avanpost-SPb” has been working with IKEA since November, 2004. In summer 2006 the company won a tender regarding providing security services in the “Mega” shopping-mall. Up to date this company provides security services for lots of our shopping-mall tenants. Suitability of such cooperation is evident especially concerning issues of coordination of action in crisis situations. A commercial component is also very important. We provide a necessary volume of work and they establish an appropriate price for their services. Also I would like to note there are so-called zones of responsibility. The IKEA store territory, a rear yard, a loading zone are a special territory taken under responsibility of Avanpost-SPb special structural subdivision that works with LLC “IKEA DOM” only. The whole parking zone which is the road from the bridge, underground and open parking lots, and also exits and passages to the “Mega” shopping mall, galleries and the atrium are the special “Avanpost-SPb” company subdivision that has a contract with LLC “IKEA MOS.
What does IKEA hire a security company for? This question is one of the most frequently put to our employees. Saving people in emergency situation is what is the main destination of a security company. We would like our visitors and employees to be able to leave our shopping mall safely if any fire risks, explosion threats or another crisis situation.
Evacuation out of the shopping mall is a very complicated and very dangerous process. It can happen any time of day and night while anything can happen. Since our shop opening there were three real evacuations in high dangerous environment for people’s life and health. That’s why we need people who can evaluate a scale of the treat and conduct evacuation especially in nighttime when the store authorities are absent. Evacuation trainings that we hold twice a year with our employees and visitors are just a part of the training. In general, it is a security company under whose reliability there’s such kind of training and holding.
Why is it a security company but not a technical or a cleaning company?
First, our store is fit out with the modern security systems, which is a fire alarm, a burglar alarm, an access control system etc. This is what the security company works with. These systems issue a concrete information that should be processed, evaluated and then one should take a decision. And what is the most important one should act. Second, a security company is a mobile subdivision that with the help of radio stations has an opportunity to sort out in a difficult situation and inform the shopping mall authorities. The metric area of our store is - 32 ООО square metres.
There are such industrial premises as a gas-fired boiler room, a diesel-generator room, a pumping station etc. that most of employees know nothing about and that is a difficult place to get. Access to such premises for security purposes is severely regulated.
In conclusion I would like to thank all Smart Security Group Avanpost employees and management for work that has been done. During the last audit that had been being taken place in our store since March, 2 to March, 4 our security was noticed by inspectors as one of the best in IKEA.
