22.06.2009  AVANPOST SAFE-GUARDED ALYE PARUSA

During the night between the 20 and 21st of June the traditional celebration of school-leavers, Alye Parusa, took place in Saint-Petersburg. This night is a very special night due to the fact many school-leavers graduate and want to celebrate. Sometimes the festivities may be too hilarious...

This year 35000 school-leavers graduated. The expectations of the celebration were high.. Every pupil recieved an entrance ticket for two persons to the concert started. The City Police, OMON, Avanpost and other security organizations splendidly arranged and surveilled the Alye PArusa celebration.  

TV channel Peterburg - 5th channel broadcast the event. The press-coverage was convincing.

Governor Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko and the Minister of education Mr. Andrey Aleksandrovich Fursenko held the inauguration speech. The rock group Banderoll, the singer Maksim and the winner of the 2008 Eurovision Song context Mr. Dima Bilan took part.

Governor Valentina Matvienko said that celebration proceeded in good order. According to the Governor 2,5 million students, guests and citizens of St.Petersburg took part in the celebration.

The celebration will be remembered by students for ever. It will be remembered as highly appreciated event of the city, thanks to the City Police, Avanpost and other security organizations.

The Governor thanked all that helped organize the celebration and the Graduation balls.

The tradition to celebration of Alye Parusa during the white Nights at the river banks of Neva started 1968.

The ship Alye Parusa i.e. the ship with red sails, from the novel written by Alekander Green became the symbol for the celebration.
